Kielder Holiday Cottages

New designRe-design 2014

The website was re-designed in 2014 with a more open and spaceous feel.  It also includes a blog, The Thrum Mill Blog, and visitors can now book a cottage online.

We have left details of the old design here (further down the page) because we still like it.

Among the many improvements to the website is that it is now responsive - sensitive to the type of device with which the website is being viewed.

Any number of pages can be added to the site and the navigation menu can be easily extended.

If and when the business expands, Margaret can just as easily add details and photographs of another wonderful cottage, complete with pricing and booking facilities.

The 'old' design

Three in one Kielder Holiday Cottages splash screen

Margaret wanted a website for her holiday cottages in the Kielder area of Northumberland.

It was a real pleasure driving over to meet her as the hills were ablaze with autumn colour.  We spent a very busy afternoon driving along very winding roads, from cottage to cottage, to take photographs for the website.

Farthing Cottage information page

There is a splash screen which sets the tone for the website, making use of a photograph of Margaret's, and an introductory page.

There is a page dedicated to each of the cottages at Kielder Water, Bellingham and Redesmouth.  Each has full descriptions, plenty of photographs and expandable sections about the inside, outside, other information and booking.

Customised google map and keyThe site also features a contact page (and enquiry form), plus a page about the locality.

This includes a customised google map and key, showing the locations of all three cottages.

And as if she hadn't enough to do

Margaret and husband Dave have featured recently on the Channel 4 programme The Restoration Man for their renovation of Thrum Mill, Rothbury.

Their efforts were truly inspiring.  You can watch the programme here.
